WCL Anthology
Art Contest Submissions
We are excited to announce a cover art contest for the Where Connections Lead anthology. This is a unique opportunity for Second Life artists to interpret and visually express the anthology’s theme while gaining recognition for their creative work. The winning submission will be featured as the cover art for the publication, and the selected artist will receive $100 upon the successful completion of the Kickstarter campaign.
The winning submission will be chosen by votes from Kickstarter backers in the top two campaign tiers. This ensures a collaborative and engaging selection process that highlights the tastes and preferences of the anthology’s supporters. In addition to being featured on the cover, the winning artist will be celebrated in promotional materials and on the anthology’s website. Backers at specific reward levels will receive a digitally signed copy of the winning cover art, providing further exposure for the artist.
To participate, please submit your artwork to artcontestWCL@outlook.com by January 31, 2025. Include a brief artist statement (50–100 words) explaining your interpretation of the theme and how it inspired your piece. We look forward to seeing the creativity and talent of the Second Life community reflected in your submissions.
Please include a short bio with your artwork submission, providing insight into your artistic background and journey. This bio should be 50–100 words and can highlight your experience as an artist in both Second Life and the physical world, any notable projects or achievements, and the inspirations behind your work. You’re also encouraged to share a brief reflection on what drew you to participate in the Where Connections Lead anthology project. If your artwork is selected, your bio will be featured in promotional materials and on the anthology website, offering readers and supporters a glimpse into your creative story.
Let’s bring Where Connections Lead to life through your artistry!
Theme
The anthology’s theme, Where Connections Lead, invites a wide range of interpretations, both imaginative and thought-provoking. Artists are encouraged to explore how connections—between people, ideas, technology, places, or even events—create paths that bring us together, reveal truths, or lead to unforeseen consequences. This theme allows for abstract, symbolic, or representational artwork that aligns with the anthology’s essence.
