Three Dragons Press is expanding from an anthology project into a mission-driven publishing startup, led by publisher Sylvia Woodham. Following the release of our debut anthology, we are seeking two core team members to help build this press from to apply to join the team, you do not need to live in Germany. the ground up.

To apply to join the team, you do not need to live in Germany at the time. These positions will begin as one year contract positions, and require a German address to begin. Permission to work for the year will be covered by the funding source.

We are creating a Lean Start-up Team with an informal culture, but that doesn’t mean a lack of structure. Clear expectations, boundaries, and professionalism are key. The selection of these roles are high stakes, to find each member who can handle their area of expertise, as well as come together in decision making process for acquisitions and strategy.

Marketing and Outreach Lead

About the Role
As Marketing & Outreach Lead, you will play a central role in expanding our reach beyond the anthology launch. This is a core team position for someone ready to invest in a growing startup publishing house, collaborate closely, and take ownership of marketing, outreach, and community-building initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and manage campaigns across social media, newsletters, and other channels.

  • Write clear, engaging content aligned with our voice and vision

  • Coordinate press outreach and cultivate media relationships

  • Develop partnerships with writing groups, cultural organizations, and community initiatives

  • Plan promotional activities, author features, and digital events

  • Collaborate with the digital design director to maintain brand consistency

You Might Be a Great Fit If You

  • Have experience in marketing, communications, publishing, or related fields:
    Have internship previous experience or internships in book, writing, or publishing community organization.

  • Are confident writing and editing content in English

  • Love independent literature and cultural media

  • Are self-directed and proactive, comfortable working in a startup environment

  • Balance creativity with strategic outreach goals

  • Bonus: experience with press releases, book campaigns, or international markets

Editor

Commercial Fiction and Non-Fiction

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Editor to join our growing team. The Editor will play a crucial role in refining and shaping the work of emerging authors, ensuring each manuscript meets our high editorial standards for publication. This role offers a unique opportunity for someone passionate about cross-cultural literature, who supports diverse voices, and wants to develop their editorial voice within a dynamic startup environment. Future growth could lead to an Editorial Director role.

Who We’re Looking For:
We welcome candidates with strong literary sensibilities, whether you come from a writing background or editorial assistance, who are ready to step into a full editorial role. Ideal candidates:

  • Have a significant writing background or editorial assistant experience and want to transition into or grow their editorial career

  • Understand the importance of maintaining literary quality and are passionate about mentoring emerging writers

  • Are motivated by collaboration and supporting underrepresented, cross-cultural authors to tell authentic stories

  • Want to innovate editorial offerings that combine cultural authenticity with the structural clarity and polish readers expect

  • Bring a non-EU native perspective and have the ability to work effectively with European regional storytellers, bridging cultural nuances with universal editorial standards

  • Are eager to contribute to a mission-driven startup that values creativity, diversity, and professional excellence

Responsibilities:

  • Edit fiction and non-fiction manuscripts to meet the company’s style, tone, and quality standards

  • Collaborate closely with authors to provide constructive, supportive feedback on structure, character development, plot, and more

  • Proofread for grammar, clarity, consistency, and formatting issues

  • Ensure content is clear, accurate, and accessible for a broad international audience

  • Work with the publishing team to develop publication schedules and workflows

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director on promotional materials and book launches

  • Maintain and help evolve the company’s editorial guidelines and standards

  • Manage multiple projects to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Proven editing experience, particularly in literary, commercial fiction, and non-fiction genres (editorial assistants with strong experience considered)

  • Familiarity with publishing tools (Word, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat)

  • Excellent command of grammar, syntax, and style

  • Strong communication skills and ability to give constructive, clear feedback

  • Passion for cross-cultural and inclusive storytelling

  • Experience working with diverse, international teams or authors a plus

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment

  • Fluency in English (additional languages a plus)

  • EU citizenship and German university affiliation preferred
